Board of Assessor’s Minutes
June 23, 2009
Members Present: Arlene Fogg, Chairperson; David Stevens; Relf Fogg; and Cynthia Bickford, Assessing Technician.
Mrs. Fogg called the meeting to order at 9:03 a.m., at which time she led those present in the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Board of Assessor’s reviewed the following abatements:
Map 204, Lot 11. Mrs. Fogg moved to deny the abatement application for Map 204, Lot 11 based on Rod Wood’s recommendations; Mr. Fogg seconded. Motion carried 3-0.
Map 111, Lot 30.
Mr. Fogg moved to deny the abatement application for Map 111, Lot 30
based on Rod Wood’s recommendations; Mr. Stevens seconded. Motion carried 3-0.
Map 92, Lot 21.
The acreage was corrected according to the tax maps and the land was adjusted
for the location of the road. Mr.
Fogg moved to approve the abatement application based on Rod Wood’s
recommendations; Mr. Stevens seconded.
Motion carried 3-0.
The Board had a brief discussion regarding integrity and the responsibility of the Board of Assessor’s.
Map 59, Lot 23. Mr. Fogg moved to approve the abatement application based on Rod Wood’s recommendations; Mr. Stevens seconded. Motion carried 3-0.
Map 81, Lot 24.
Mr. Fogg moved to approve the abatement application based on Rod Wood’s
recommendations; Mr. Stevens seconded.
Motion carried 3-0.
Map 22, Lot(s) 18 & 19. Mr. Fogg moved to approve the abatement application based on
Rod Wood’s recommendations; Mr. Stevens seconded. Motion carried 3-0.
The Board discussed the number of abatement applications this year. The Board will meet with Rod Wood to discuss the topography and vacancy factor adjustments. The Board expressed concern that these adjustments need to be made across the board. Mr. Stevens suggested that the Board start a list of items to be discussed with Mr. Wood. Mr. Stevens wonders if Purvis & Associates has the manpower to complete the work.

Mr. Fogg moved to approve the abatement application based on Rod
Wood’s recommendations; Mr. Stevens seconded.
Motion carried 3-0.

Map 69, Lot 30.
Mr. Fogg moved to approve the abatement application based on Rod
Wood’s recommendations; Mr. Stevens seconded.
Motion carried 3-0.
The Board reviewed the “Intent to Cut” for Wakefield Tax Map
169, Lot 1. The intent was not
processed due to unpaid taxes. The
taxes have been paid in full as of June 19, 2009. Mrs. Fogg moved to approve the “Intent to Cut”; Mr. Stevens
seconded. Motion carried 3-0.
The Board discussed the responsibilities to the
taxpayers. Mr. Fogg believes a contract
of this size should be put out to bid yearly.
Mr. Fogg moved to advertise an “Invitation to Bid” for the assessing
services for 2010; Mrs. Fogg seconded.
Motion carried 3-0.
Mr. Fogg moved to approve the minutes of June 16, 2009 as written; Mr. Stevens seconded. Motion carried 3-0.
Mrs. Fogg moved to adjourn at 11:02 a.m.; Mr. Fogg seconded. Motion carried 3-0.
