WAKEFIELD SCHOOL DISTRICT GOALS AND OBJECTIVES 2006-2007
It is the desire of this school board to achieve the following
overall goals in the governance and operation of the school system:
Short Term
1. Explore district options for space and grade level
configurations.
2. Present the building project proposal December, 2006.
3. Upgrade the upper field, “cut in” the diamonds and purchase
protective matting
4. Continue to improve community involvement, including committees
and the
statistical report.
5. Develop a three to five year capital improvement plan.
Long Term
1. Work towards the school district taking over responsibility for
the athletic
programs.
2. Develop and implement a strategic plan for the district.
On Going
1. Encourage enrichment programs and make more resources available.
2. School wide - allow more time on learning.
3. Review academic standards and instructional techniques with a
focus on literacy and mathematics to meet and exceed the standards and
provide effective professional development for the teachers and staff to
implement instruction.
4. Assess the current status of the curricula in the school and
develop a timetable
for creating curricula and updating what currently exists.
5. Continue improvement in the area of discipline.
6. Maintain a report on "movers" and "drop outs". For drop outs,
why?
7. Continue open communication with Spaulding.
8. Develop a long and short term maintenance plan.
9. Improve parent involvement in the schools.
